Roald Dahl’s Book of Ghost Stories & The Elusive Alfred Wadham

I just got a copy of this fantastic collection of short ghost stories.

I must admit I was a little disappointed at first to realise that the stories are not written by Roald Dahl himself but rather selected by him. However, as soon as I started reading, I began to see I was in for a treat!

Here‘s an abridged reading of Roald Dahl’s introduction to the book which explains a little about his selection process:

I’m looking forward to recording some free audiobook versions of some of these stories very soon, starting with the brilliantly written “In The Tube” by E F Benson.

You might like to grab yourself a copy of the marvelous little book, take a look below:

Incidentally E F Benson was also the author of “The Hanging of Alfred Wadham”, the story mentioned in Roald Dahl’s introduction. It seems that at some point this was in fact produced as a TV episode, starring the great Patrick McGoohan: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1229317/

There are some collections of E F Benson’s works available here:

and here:

However, they don’t seem to include the Alfred Wadham story which i would love to read myself. All I can find is a Kindle version of E F Benson’s complete works:

Let me know in the comments below if anyone manages to track down a hard copy of The Hanging of Alfred Wadham, or indeed an online link to the aforementioned TV episode.
