long or meandering one.
4 athwart [“uh-THWAWRT”] – from side to side of; across.
5 fo’c’sle [“FOHK-suhl”] – shortened form of forecastle – the upper
deck of a sailing ship forward of the foremast, or the forward part
of a ship with the sailors’ living quarters.
6 Farallones – The Farallon Islands, or Farallones (from the Spanish
